Finding the One True God
By Eric Johnson, San Carlos Apache
“He got me out of prison, and He told me to go tell everyone that what He did for me He can do for others!”
I am happy to share my testimony (Revelation 12:11), to give all the Glory, Honor, Power, and Praise, in the name of Jesus, to my Lord my God. I am Apache from the San Carlos Apache Reservation in Arizona.
An Apache Medicine man, who was approximately 70 years old, told me what is true and has been for many years. He said today’s Apache medicine is out for self-glorification, fame, money, greed and corruption. He said they have no reverence or respect for the Apache god, Usen, or the Apache religion. He said they do not hold this sacred and holy any more. He had said he is one of the true remaining Apache men and that today’s medicine men do not even know he is one. This Apache medicine man told me this over twenty years ago.
Back then my mom had taken me to many Apache medicine men to pray for me that I would not to go to prison. These Apache medicine man asked to be paid a lot of money, and my mom did pay. Many of these Apache medicine men told me that curses were put on me to die. It is well known on my reservation for many decades, that Apache medicine man are paid to put a curse on other Apaches. Well, their prayer for me to Usen, the Apache god, did not work. The jury found me guilty and sentenced me to prison. It was in the county jail, before they sent me to prison, that Jesus Christ loved, found, and saved me! I praise God!
Wonderful Lord Jesus, my Savior, taught, discipled, and trained me in the county jail and in three prisons by God’s Holy Spirit. Then He got me out of prison, and He told me to go tell everyone that what He did for me He can do for others!
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15
The Lord did get me out of prison and has been sending me around across the United States for over twenty years. Even without money or support, the Lord has supplied for all my needs. The Lord sent me back to tell these Apache medicine men and my reservation that I have renounced Usen, the Apache god, and the Apache religion, and to tell them that I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
Out of all the Apache medicine men I witnessed to, only two encouraged me. One old Apache medicine man encouraged me to stay with the One Who loved, found, and saved me. He said this One is powerful and true. He said this One is pure and holy. He told me to never come back to the Apache god, Usen, and the Apache religion. He told me I must tell the Apaches about this. He said to uphold him in prayer and that someday he will give his heart and life to this One I talked about. He passed away a year after the Lord sent me to see him and to share with him about Jesus Christ.
Please pray for this Apache Eagle that God’s Holy Spirit keeps leading me on and that the Lord’s will be done for His Glory. Praise the Lord. Smile – Jesus loves you all, and I do too!
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14).
